- April Replications

Happy 2010 to Everyone!

The entire month of April will see History Anew busy preparing seasonal bushcraft items, such as raw-hide, bark-tanned leather, and Birch sap, for upcoming summer events. As well we will be finishing up a selection of replicated artifacts for an upcoming museum exhibit. While information for these items is put together for publication please keep in mind our upcoming video series!

At the end of December 2009, our little video team shot a new video regarding the creation of birch tar using soapstone vessels. This is the first of a three, or perhaps, four part series (titled Birch Tar Gum) that will detail the process of making birch tar gum for oral hygiene health - an extremely interesting and ancient practice used by Northern Europeans for thousands of years. Have a look at the articles below for more detailed information on the subject.
