- What we have been up to -

Hello to everyone!

Just wanted to give a little up-date on what we've been up to, here, at History Anew, since my last post in April. You may have seen our Forthcoming blog post - explaining that we are going to be featured, alongside Odin's Ravens, within the Scandinavian Pavilion at the Servus Heritage Festival. We have been very busy preparing for that - tanning and smoking hides, building and finishing a medieval Pole-Lathe and a replica Mastermyr chest using only Viking woodworking techniques and preparing all of the materials to go along with our demonstrations. We have been busy!

We will also be featured (alongside other members of Vikings Vinland groups) at the first annual Viking Day on August 15th, 2010 - at the Danish Canadian National Museum in Dickson, Alberta. Currently, and throughout the 2010 year, an exhibit titled Medieval Scandinavia - 850 C.E. to 1100 C.E. is featured within the Heritage Room at DCNM (for more information go to Artifact Replication). History Anew donated several artifact replicas and reproductions for that exhibit and are planning on following that theme for our demonstrations on August 15th. We'd love to hear your comments regarding what you would like to see at Viking Day - is there an aspect of medieval Scandinavian daily life that you would like to know more about or artifacts that you would like to see in action? Please let us know by e-mailing info@historyanew.com or visiting our facebook page (History Anew) and posting your thoughts there.

Lastly, we will be attending the Alberta Museums Conference -  More Than Place - this year, on September 23 - 25, as Tradeshow Participants. Detailed information regarding our demonstrations and artifacts for the conference will be posted by September.

Thanks for stopping by!
